“Note what you care about. Assume that many others share your dreams. Be brave enough to start a conversation that matters”. Margaret Wheatley
As a part of PCC's ongoing conversation on performance in Canada, we invite everyone to come, listen and speak your mind! Organize yourself around your passions, frustrations, ideas, opinions, humor, confusions, confluences and the seeming impossible. All opportunities are encouraged.
PCC Calgary's Open Space builds on the premise that what happens at coffee breaks during scheduled meetings is often the most interesting part of any meeting. Participants are invited to reshape and rethink the conventional meeting format during the sessions.
The open space sessions are aimed at creating a discussion between artists, administrators, educators, funding institutions, presenters, agents, archivists and critics from the fields of theatre, dance, performance art, music and interdisciplinary work who are interested in the well being of the Canadian performance creation milieu. It is open to anyone interested in asking questions that can make a difference.
With so much potential change seemingly on the horizon, what type of arts community do we want for the future? What obstacles do you face? What are tangible solutions? What collective action can we take? How can we build on our proven capacity for innovation, strategic insight, creative excellence and organizational savvy? What -and how - do we build a meaningful legacy?
Make space. Take time. Be brave. Stay curious. Engage deeply and creatively around issues of concern. Challenge with integrity and passion. Participants will create and manage their own agenda of parallel working sessions around a central theme of importance to PCC: Dissolving Boundaries vs. Storming Barricades.
Join facilitators Suzanne Boss and Cheryl De Paoli for two invigorating open space sessions at the Calgary Drop-In Centre. Strengthen our community and each other through an intimate and collective collaboration. BACK
